Bodybuilders already have to put in a tremendous amount of work and discipline to maintain their regimen. If you’re a vegetarian looking to get started with bodybuilding and packing on muscle mass, the process won’t be easy but it’s not impossible either. Consider the following prior to beginning a regimen.
Go through your cupboards. Your goal is to build muscle as opposed to fat, and that means eating clean. Having sweets around makes it that much harder to resist temptation, so don’t allow yourself the opportunity. Stock those cupboards with nuts, legumes, whole grains, and keep plenty of fruit and veggies in the fridge. These foods make great snacks without the risks.
Become friends with carbs. Carbs are essential for building muscle mass and a vital ingredient for any workout you do. You don’t necessarily need to worry about the type of carbs you’re eating provided they are not processed, as these carbs will cause you to gain the kind of weight you don’t want.
Get ready to eat. A lot. For bodybuilders, calories are as essential as protein to keep your energy up and that means boosting your calorie intake. Because your workouts are going to be intense, you’re going to use up a tremendous amount of energy. Consider whey or soy protein drinks and make sure to eat several meals throughout the day.
