If you’re someone who regularly lifts weights, you know how important it is to make sure your body is receiving the necessary fuel to achieve the best results. Your workout is likely built around a trio of primary lifts while also making sure to rotate in auxiliary exercise.
Even if you have a workout routine meticulously planned out, you may be overlooking an element that’s also important when attempting to build and gain muscle: mobility and flexibility. This is where stretching can help in making sure that the body remains limber and flexible, which is essential if you want to make sure that your muscles are working in harmony with your ligaments and joints while maintaining a full range of motion.
You can start with calf raises, as these can be done in a sitting or standing position. You may also choose to throw in some light dumbbells. The intention here is to warm up your legs and get them ready for some movement so that you lessen the odds of sore calves.
Perhaps the easiest stretch you can do is the good old fashioned touching your toes. This stretch will significantly help your core and your back as well as the calves, quads, and your hamstrings. Quad stretches, hamstring extensions, and chest stretches are other exercises to consider.
