Let’s say you average about seven hours or so a week diligently working out. While that’s plenty of time at the gym, it still leaves lots of room for improvement or making sure that all of the hard you’ve put in isn’t undermined. What you do post workout can play critical roles in boosting your results, here are some suggestions.
Have some magnesium. Magnesium is essential to the body and is responsible for things like protein synthesis, energy production, and more. As we sweat, magnesium is lost, so it’s important to make sure it’s replenished. Almonds, cashews, fish, dark leafy greens, all of these can help to replenish it. If you’re dealing with painful muscle cramps, a lack of magnesium could be a reason.
Get a massage. Whether you choose to do it yourself or have someone do it for you, a massage can boost your recovery time as well as improve your muscle strength. Consider purchasing a foam roller and explore what moves you can do at home.
Put some stretch in those muscles. Just as it’s important to warm up, it’s also important to warm down. Choosing to forego a stretch puts you at a greater risk of tearing your muscle. Stretching will help to boost your flexibility and the range of motion in your joints.
